Results: Lost most double ups and all triple ups

What worked:
Marques Valdes-Scantling – With Randall Cobb and Gerainmo Alison ruled out the only WR with significant practice and game reps with Aaron Rodgers was Marques Valdes-Scantling and at a sub $4000 price stood out as a useful value piece on the slate. After the Packers fell behind early, MVS received significant volume as Rodgers attempted to play catch up and ended up seeing 10 targets for 7 catches totaling 68 yards and a touchdown.

Stefan Diggs – We selected Stefan Diggs due to the narrow projected target range of the Vikings along with the matchup against the Eagles who funnel opposing teams to attack via the air due to their strong front seven. Another factor working for Diggs was the Dalvin Cook, the Vikings only reliable pass-catching back, was also ruled out, further narrowing the target range to effectively Diggs, Thielen, and Rudolph. We took the $700 savings on Diggs and were rewarded with a solid performance of 10 catches for 91 yards.

What didn’t work:
We strive for perfection and always like to take a look back on some of the predictions that didn’t materialize:

Derek Carr: We selected Derek Carr because of his YTD efficiency, the struggles we’ve seen so far from the Chargers defense, and a positive projected game script in a high total game. Several things did not go as expected. First, the Chargers pass rush, with had been non-existent in weeks 1-4 began to get pressure on Carr on most of his drop backs. Additionally, even after falling behind early, the Raiders remained committed to running Marshawn Lynch straight into the line and made no effort to increase the their pace of play or go no-huddle in an effort to catch up.

Juju Smith-Schuster/Vance McDonald – With the primary weakness of the Falcons being the middle of the field due to their injuries to key starters at linebacker. In order to capture a large percentage of targets to this area of the field we chose to roster both Juju Smith-Schuster and Vance McDonald. Hear we fell victim to low passing volume from the Steelers as they jumped out to an early lead and increased their run volume significantly from what we’ve seen over their past few games. Ben Roethlisberger only threw 29 passes, completing 19 with only a combined 6 targets and 5 receptions going to this combo of Steelers pass catchers.
