What worked:

Ryan Moore: Rostering Ryan Moore over this week’s consensus chalk option in Joaquin Niemann was the decision that most directly contributed to our profitable week. Moore’s strong course history combined with strong recent ball striking stats were an indicator that a breakout performance was coming as soon as we saw some positive regression in his putting stats that may be prompted by a change in venue back to West Coast Poa. Our prediction was spot on as Moore continued his great ball striking and rode a strong putting week to a 3-way playoff for first place where he fell to Kevin Tway on the third hole.

Chez Reavie: Chez has shown improvement in his approach play over the past few events and has historically been a highly ranked player in proximity to the hole, an important stat on a second shot golf course like Silverado. A T33 finish provided solid value at a value price point.

What didn’t work:
Even on winning weeks we strive for perfection and always like to look back on some of the predictions that didn’t materialize:

Chesson Hadley: One of the only things that stopped us from a monster weekend in small field GPP’s was a missed cut by Chesson Hadley. We rostered him because of projected course fit as the greens at Silverado are easy to hit, minimizing exposure to Hadley’s below average around the green game. Additionally, Hadley’s success on the Web.com tour proves he can compete on courses where birdies need to be racked up. The missed cut was right on the number as he had two great opportunities to get that last birdie but ended up missing short birdie putts on holes 17 and 18 coming down the stretch on Friday.
