What worked:

Christian McCaffrey – The Bucs D has been shredded by combo RBs this year so we decided to go with the Panthers RB that has been good for at least 50 yards through the air and 50 rushing yards per game over the past several weeks. McCaffrey has seen nearly 100% of snaps and has had his goal line volume spike up in recent weeks provided a great floor and we all saw the upside he can produce last week. McCaffrey was a great cornerstone for our lineup, providing 106 yards on the ground and 9 catches for 55 yards and a TD in Week 13.

Chris Godwin – With Desean Jackson out and we looked to roster Chris Godwin at a bargain price of $3900 against a Panthers team that has shown pass funnel tendencies. We love to target share WRs and performance met our expectations here as Godwin turned in an efficient day of 5 catches on 6 targets for 101 yards and a touchdown.

What didn’t work:

Even on winning weeks, we strive for perfection and always like to look back on some of the predictions that didn’t materialize:

Aaron Jones – So far this year the Cardinals have faced the most rushing attempts in the NFL as their poor drive success rates have allowed their opponents to run a much higher than average play rate. It appeared that the Packers had realized that Aaron Jones was their clear #1 back so it made sense to expect a big day on big volume for Jones. However, Mike McCarthy got in the way and decided to turn the backfield into a split with Jamaal Williams that prevented Jones from getting in a groove and ultimately lost the Packers the game, ending their playoff hopes and the coach’s time with the team as McCarthy was fired after the game.

Kenny Golladay – As the last man standing in the Lions receiving corps and, in a matchup, where the Lions needed to put up points in order to keep up with the high-powered Rams offense, we expected another high-volume week from Kenny Golladay. Golladay did receive 8 targets, which was in the lower end of the range we projected, however, he was only able to turn those targets into 3 catches for 50 yards as the Lions offense struggled all game to get anything going against the Rams.
