Results: Won most double ups and all triple ups

What worked:

Sterling Shepherd – We selected Sterling Shepherd due to the narrow projected target range of the Giants along with the matchup against the Saints. With Evan Engram out and the Giants preferring to operate through short and both OBJ and Shephard running a high percentage of their routes in the short area of the field. Additionally, the matchup against the Saints was a high total game where the Giants where projected to be trailing and need to increase their pace and passing volume in order to keep up with the high powered Saints offense. Also contributing to this factor, is a strong Saints run defense that funnels the opposition towards the pass. We did see this narrative play out as Sterling Shepherd was targeted 10 times and OBJ was targeted 11 times. Shephard caught all 10 balls thrown his way including a touchdown.

Alvin Kamara – With Mark Ingram out the Saints have been leaning significantly on Kamara to handle all backfield duties. Kamara provides a high floor as The Saints coaching staff is smart enough to adjust his usage to either more run heavy or pass heavy depending on game flow and what is working best.

Eric Ebron – We selected Ebron due to the increased volume projected with Jack Doyle out as since the return of Andrew Luck the Colts have been attack opposing defenses primarily through short passes, where tight ends tend to feast. We were correct in our prediction of volume as Ebron saw 10 targets and was able to convert 5 catches and a touchdown.

Tyler Boyd - Selecting Boyd provided exposure to the Bengals Falcons shootout. With the Falcons looking to limit AJ Green, Boyd’s position as the secondary was likely to produce a large volume of targets at a value price. We did see this materialize as Boyd saw 15 targets that he turned into 11 catches for 100 yards.

What didn’t work:

We strive for perfection and always like to take a look back on some of the predictions that didn’t materialize:

Mike Williams: We selected Mike Williams due to his role as a perimeter threat and a top red zone option in Chargers offense. The 49ers were already weak on the perimeter and would be without Richard Sherman in this matchup. Even with the game script in the Chargers favor as the 49ers jumped out to an early lead. However, the Chargers decided to target the short area of the field with 20 targets to Gordon and Keenan Allen. Additionally, the Chargers brought Tyrell Williams and Antonio Gates with an additional 10 targets on the outside and in the endzone, eating in heavily to Mike Williams projected share and leaving him with only 1 catch for 15 yards on 3 targets. On a high scoring week this was primary reason our lineup did not finish in the cash.

Odell Beckham Jr.: We selected OBJ due to the narrow projected target range of the Giants along with the matchup against the Saints. However, Shephard caught all 10 balls thrown his way including a touchdown and OBJ was only able to convert his 11 targets into 7 catches for 60 yards.
